Storm bowling balls
Storm
bowling balls are viewed by many as one of the most progressive bowling
ball makers around. Because the company is constantly redefining what
a bowling ball is, there are some terms associated with these balls
that some may be unaware of.
In an effort to better understand the technologies that are going into
Storm bowling balls, this mini-glossary has been included for your use.
Accu-Tread
Accu-Tread is Storm bowling balls war-proven coverstock that was introduced
in the late 1990s. By many accounts, it set the standard for the coverstocks
used by most serious bowlers today.
Cadmium
Cadmium is an extension of Accu-Tread. Cadmium is a base coverstock
material plus an exclusive particle. Cadmium helps Storm bowling balls
gain more traction as they fly down the lane.
EOX Technology
Because Storm bowling balls are seen as some of the most progressive
balls on the market, the company is constantly trying to create a better
bowling ball. EOX Technology represents the company’s newest attempt
at perfection. This technology produces more early friction so that
by the time the ball gets to mid-lane, it will roll better. This works
especially well on heavily oiled lane conditions.
Monsoon
Monsoon is a very aggressive reactive coverstock. This coverstock,
which is found on Storm bowling balls, is soft and allows a wide footprint
between the ball and the lane. On drier back ends, this ball gives the
bowler the best traction.
Reactive Urethane
Reactive Urethane Storm bowling balls are blended with a number of
different additives. This coverstock adheres very well to the lane and
thus creates a lot of backend action. It also features the least amount
of deflection and the hardest hitting power of any coverstock manufactured
today.
Learning and understanding these terms that relate to Storm bowling
balls will help you when you choose what kind of ball you need for a
number of different lane conditions. The ball for you most likely exists,
but you have to know the terms to be able to find it.
